The Kansas City Canine Orthopedics veterinary surgery center was designed to optimize excellence in providing orthopedic medical and surgical care as well as facilitating cutting edge orthopedic clinical trials.  Accordingly, there are several attributes of our facility that enable provision of the highest level of orthopedic care possible:

  • Three operating rooms dedicated exclusively to orthopedics with positive pressure ventilation and laminar air flow to ensure the air is as clean as possible for our surgical procedures.
  • Three arthroscopy units that enable us to perform arthroscopy on all patients (for whom arthroscopy is indicated), underscoring our commitment and unique skill sets in performing arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery.
  • Intra-operative imaging (X-rays), making both minimally invasive surgery placement possible, as well as enabling assessment of surgical execution as the procedure progresses, thus maximizing the consistency and quality of the surgery performed.
  • A dedicated surgical equipment sterilization room with 6 different sterilization units to keep ample amounts of sterile equipment immediately available.
  • A dedicated gait analysis center that allows precise measurement of a dog’s function. This equipment and expertise provide us the ability to objectively determine which limb(s) are most painful for a patient, whether treatments are resulting in measurable improvement, and facilitates clinical trials that provide an opportunity for cutting edge care, often with financial benefits for enrollment

Last, but certainly not least, our entire hospital is dedicated exclusively to veterinary orthopedic care. Consequently, we do not care for any patients in need of soft tissue surgery, general veterinary surgery, internal medicine or wounds and skin reconstruction. In turn, our operating rooms, tables, surgical equipment, and anesthesia equipment are never used on such patients. This exclusivity assures our facility is the cleanliest possible and ensures any risk of infection to your companion is minimized.

In sum, this veterinary orthopedic surgery hospital is state of the art and designed specifically so that the dogs (and cats!) of Kansas, Missouri and the surrounding states can receive excellent orthopedic care.
