Canine Sports Medicine

Kansas City Canine Orthopedics is one of a very few sub-specialty centers to have a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Sam Franklin is the only Canine Sports Medicine specialist in Kansas, Nebraska, and Arkansas. Agility, dock diving, field trialing, hunt tests, and hunting dogs make up the majority of his sporting patients. The majority of his working dog population is police tracking and apprenhension dogs, as well as herding dogs. He commonly works with high drive American Labrador Retrievers, Border Collies, Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd (and Czech Shepherd), Australian Shepherd, and Pyrenees.

At KCCO, our goals are to consider all patients holistically, and consider all options, surgical and non-surgical, that can optimize mobility, strength, conditioning, and performance. If you have a sporting or working dog and want to get him/her back to peak performance, the team at Kansas City Canine Orthopedics will be eager to help!
