Ashley Franklin
DVM, Veterinary Director
From her early years growing up in southern California, Dr. Ashley Franklin knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She attended the University of California at Davis for her undergraduate education in preparation for veterinary school. After just 3 years of undergraduate coursework, she was accepted into veterinary school at Colorado State University. After obtaining her DVM degree there, she moved to the University of Missouri to complete a rotating internship, thereby obtaining additional training in general medicine, surgery, and emergency medicine. Following her internship, she worked as an emergency veterinarian in hospitals in both California and New York before then becoming a faculty member at the University of Georgia, practicing and teaching students in the General Medicine Practice.
Following her move to Colorado, Dr. Ashley Franklin worked as the chief operating officer of Franklin Research and Innovation, a company that performed research in the use of orthobiologics and total hip replacements in dogs and that developed a licensable technology in the orthopedic space. Dr. Franklin has substantial experience in practicing veterinary medicine, performing and publishing research in several publications, organizing and running large extra-mural clinical trials, developing intellectual property and submitting patent applications, and managing teams of veterinary technicians, assistants, and veterinarians.
In summary, she is incredibly knowledgeable and talented with a wide array of skills and intellectual curiosity. She is a great asset as the managing officer of Kansas City Canine Orthopedics and most importantly, she is passionate about being a veterinarian dedicated to facilitating the KCCO team’s successful treatment of our patients.
